Strategic Partnership with Facebook

Since its founding, MANTID has developed new tracking technologies for Facebook Inc., which, following the acquisition of Oculus, became a global leader in VR technology development. The collaboration continued with Meta Reality Labs. The project focused on an advanced system for limb localization with sub-millimeter precision and extremely low latency, using millimeter-wave radar and transponders (60–120 GHz).

Inclusive Art (ARTecIN Project)

In collaboration with the startup Maia Ingegneria, MANTID developed tactile audio guides based on RFID and soft-touch technologies to make artworks accessible to visually impaired people. The artwork explanation follows the user's manual exploration, creating an immersive and inclusive experience.

Histological Sample Identification

A key area for MANTID is the application of IoT technologies in biomedical logistics. In this field, the company developed in partnership with IT Health Fusion srl an innovative solution for identifying, locating and preserving biological tissue samples in pathology laboratories.

BioTag srl

In 2022 the partnership promoted the creation of the innovative startup BioTag srl (www.biotag.it), which has further developed the technology and is promoting its commercialization, also thanks to funding obtained through the Campania Startup program.

CRiSM Project – Hospital Digital Twin

Within the CRiSM (Clinical Risk Identification Software Management) project, MANTID developed an integrated system for tracking patients and critical equipment in hospital environments, connecting heterogeneous identification technologies: RFID, Bluetooth Low Energy, QR codes, and barcodes.

Hydrogen RFID Sensors (ENEA)

In partnership with ENEA, MANTID developed new passive RFID tags capable of selectively detecting hydrogen even in methane-hydrogen mixtures, and passive transponders that monitor predefined temperature thresholds without batteries.

Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces (RIS)

MANTID has focused on the development of Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces (RIS), one of the most promising innovations for future 6G communication networks. RIS enable advanced control of electromagnetic waves by dynamically modifying their structure and EM properties in real time.

RESTART Program (NRRP)

MANTID participated as a partner in the RESTART program (RESearch and innovation on future Telecommunications systems and networks), project Smart Metasurfaces Advancing Radio Technology (SMART), the most ambitious R&D project ever carried out in Italy in the telecommunications sector.

Electromagnetic Signature Control

Metasurfaces have important applications in the defense sector, particularly in relation to low radar and/or thermal observability and tactical communications between drones. MANTID is actively involved in the development of absorbers based on reconfigurable metasurfaces, the details of which are covered by a non-disclosure agreement (NDA).

Partnership with CIRA and CeRICT

MANTID has established a strategic partnership with the Italian Aerospace Research Centre (CIRA) and the Regional Centre for Information Communication Technology (CeRICT). This collaboration has led to the submission of several joint project proposals focused on new metamaterial-based tactical communication paradigms within the framework of the National Military Research Plan (PNRM).
