Metamaterial ANTennas for IDentification


Mantid SRL works on the design and development of custom antennas, real-time localization and tracking systems via radio-frequency identification technology (RFID), frequency-modulated-continuous-wave and ultrawideband radar systems, and microwave/millimeter-wave devices.
Our company relies on state-of-the-art full-wave 3D simulation and fast-prototyping tools, and is able to provide consulting and support in many scenarios involving electromagnetic-wave propagation, including RFID systems, internet of things (IOT), shielding or frequency-selective surfaces, wireless sensors and transponders. We are able to guide the customer through all necessary steps from the problem identification to its solution, via the numerical simulation and parameter optimization of the proposed designs, and their fast prototyping via high-precision CNC milling and 3D printing machines.
As implied in the acronym, a key mission of Mantid SRL is the application of novel concepts enabled by “metamaterials” – artificial materials whose responses can be precisely tailored and engineered so as to overcome current limitations of natural materials. Applications and commercialization of such emerging technologies in real-world scenarios represent the core of our business.


MANTID SRL is a spinoff company of the University of Sannio, Benevento, Italy. It was founded in 2017 by three faculties in the Department of Engineering (Profs. Giuseppe Castaldi, Andrea Cusano, and Vincenzo Galdi) and two M.E. graduates (Paolo Mattera and Roberto Parente).
